Community Needs
One of the values of establishing a fund at the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation is the expertise of Community Foundation staff. They are well qualified to identify, assist and evaluate potential beneficiaries of your fund. This professional service assures that your gifts are spent wisely while benefiting the community.
The Community Foundation staff regularly meets with local nonprofit organizations to explore current issues and emerging needs. Results of these convenings are summarized in "donor briefs," survey summaries, or field of interest directories to assist donors with directing their gifts.
The Community Foundation is also an active participant in a community-wide quality of life indicator project (ACTION for Healthy Communities) which surveys community needs in seven core areas: basic needs, health, education, natural environment, economy, public safety, and social environment.
