Investing in our community
The San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation continually surveys community needs and opportunities, and uses this information to help guide our donors in their grantmaking.
There are several options for applying for grants through the Community Foundation. Grants and funds often have a specific focus such as arts and culture, health, education, human services or community enhancement.
General Grants
Each year the Community Foundation selects a specific focus for the General Grants cycle, such as nonprofit organizational strengthening and/or capacity building. Each cycle is competitive and provides grants to a variety of qualified nonprofit organizations throughout San Luis Obispo County.
Grants and Programs
Through grants and programs, the Foundation is able to focus on strategic investments for addressing unmet or emerging community needs. These needs may be met through field of interest funds established at the Community Foundation to distribute grants for local programs. As new grant programs are developed, information and guidelines will be made available on this site and announced through the Executive Directors List-Serv.
The Foundation does not accept proposals or applications outside of the scheduled grant cycle.The applications for each grant program will be posted on the Foundation's website.The releases of various application guidelines will be announced throughout the year via the Executive Directors List-Serv, administered by KCBXnet. Nonprofit organizations are highly encouraged to subscribe to the Executive Directors List-Serv in order to be notified of grant opportunities in a timely manner. Scholarships and Awards
Individuals are honored and rewarded through scholarships and awards established through the Community Foundation by donors.
